What is the BEST Fuel to Use in Your Car or Truck and WHY

Ever wonder what grade gasoline should you use in your car (what octane)? Are you paying for premium gas when you can just use regular? Are you using regular and damaging your engine? This video will bust all of the myths and tell you the FACTS on what fuel you should use and why.

Many people throw money away and fill their car with the incorrect fuel every day. Running premium or midgrade in a car designed to run regular is a waste of money and has no HP or MPG benefits. You will not make more power or get better fuel economy running premium fuel if the car manufacturer tunes the car to use regular gas in most cases. I also see some people run regular gas in cars that need premium and the knock sensors have to adjust timing significantly to prevent damaging engine knock. I also hear a lot of people say that premium gasoline has more energy or burns cooler or slower so I will put a rest to all of these "myths" with facts.

ChrisFix I have a Lexus ls430 3uz. I can run all fules but I believe I am going to stick with alternating between Costco premium 91/92 alternating with shell 93 and running 89 when filling up on highways and 87 when gas is insanely expensive and ensuring the baby car more based on the lower the octane

Thought your explanation was thorough, but, I didn't hear anything about 100% Gas? I generally use 100% gas in my generator, pressure washer, and lawn equipment. But I also use it in my vehicle's from time to time because of it cleaning property's! And it doesn't have ethanol, and it has a longer shelf life. Can store over winter without drying out and corrodeding in the fuel lines and carburetor. Cost $$ more so I don't use in my daily driver except every once in a while for the cleaning property's. Plus vehicle seems to run a little better when I do! Especially if I run 2 or 3 tank fulls in a row. But I use it exclusively on my small engine utility equipment!

RON is the value of octane while an engine is idle MON is the value of octane while an engine is being enganged (this is usually +- 10 lower then RON, but no always) The value on pumps in the EU is just the RON value while the value on pumps in the US is RON + MON / 2 or the anti knock index.

When I worked as an unarmed ranger at a state park in 1980 we had new Dodge trucks for patrol. Man what total garbage. It was just that period in the late seventies and early eighties when California was trying to lower emissions and get higher mileage at the same time, early crude automotive computers were just getting under hoods, and unleaded gas was being mandated. Back then the manufacturers had no good substitution for the lead in gas, they tried Teflon valve seats but as you have seen with cooking pans it did not last long at all. Anyway, these Dodges we had, when you would shut the motor off they would go on rattling and banging and pinging and at points almost idling again, and this could go on for 10-12 minutes. I once parked outside the office and ignored the motor noises and shaking as we were used to it by then, and when I came out almost 15 minutes later it was STILL knocking and dieseling. Those rigs were just horrible. You ever wonder why you see cars from the 50's and 60's but almost none from the 70's and 80's? Their motors in that transition period were just junk.

Also the owner’s manual will also include information about the specifics of if your car can benefit from premium fuel or not if it’s designed for regular fuel! For example in Australia on the European octane rating system our Volkswagen Golf must run on 95 or higher otherwise engine damage may occur from engine knocking at any lower octane ratings! However it does mention that the car can tune up the timing on higher octane fuels like 98 for increased performance so some cars can run more efficiently and have increased power on when running on higher octane fuels than what they are designed for while others cannot so it all depends on what is detailed in your owner’s manual by the manufacturer! :)

if you change the oil every 5000 thousand kilometers, then this will not happen on the valves) the nozzles can be cleaned with acetone) 0.5 acetone for a full tank of gasoline) what he showed in the video is complete nonsense) plus the candles need to be changed every 30,000 kilometers) well, you can 60) but the most important thing is to change the oil on time) you do everything high-quality there in America) and in Russia you have to think for yourself how to save your engine)

Back in the 90’s, mid grade was usually only 10 cents higher than regular per gallon, and premium 10 cents higher than that. Now they are like 30 cents higher. I pay more for non ethonal gas which also happens to be 89 octane. Most places that have non ethanol only have 87 octane for the same price I get my 89 non ethanol. So at least I get non ethonal and higher octane out of it at the same time. My car is definitely sluggish on regular this tank.
