How to PROPERLY Repair a Rust Hole in your Car or Truck (DIY for Beginners)

Rust hole removal and repair. Repairing a rust hole in your car is something that should be done quickly to prevent it from spreading. You can easily do this at home with some practice and get the results you see in this video. I teach you the basics of what welder you want to use and how to weld so you can get started. I answer questions like, should you butt weld or lap weld floor panels? Rust is common at the wheel wells, quarter panels, rocker panels, and floor boards of cars and in this video I show the proper and most thorough way to remove and repair rust.

i see you have no idea what an N95 mask is better than your respirator if you wear it correctly, the most penetrating particle size (0.1 to 0.3 micron) is caught by a N95 smaller than a virus

When you co2 weld, keep your gun pointed to the tack weld for 1 or 2 more seconds before moving on. Give the metal time to cool under gas shielding.

Honestly, even working in a fabrication shop for years, I've never heard of using a copper flatbar to fill holes. The method we always used was just more wire/less power. I've legit filled massive holes with that method because I just couldn't be bothered to go cut up some scrap metal.

Next time man, try going just a bit faster, as a new welder, going slow can actually be detrimental. If it's thin, and you've got high amps and fast wire speed, you'll need to go quicker to avoid starts and stops and keep a nice steady flow and even pace. Just a little tip! Love your videos!

I usually don’t like to start and stop welds, I like to do a continuous crescent movement, but with that thin of metal I completely understand it. I’ve never really welded thin thin metal.

  • Dynamic Avocado

If anything that’s the worst “structural weld” I’ve ever seen that looks horrible as well not great help to those learning to properly weld and the only reason there’s anytype of bead is cause you tac welded it maybe learn more about the stuff and get a tig welder so you can properly weld sheet metal!!!😡🤬

  • Dynamic Avocado
    Dynamic Avocado5 dagar sedan

When welding it should crackle like bacon all I hear is your gas you probably need to adjust your drive roll tension and your amperage

  • Dynamic Avocado
    Dynamic Avocado5 dagar sedan

Definitely not a certifiable tac welder you didn’t even change settings to tac weld😔🤭😤🤦🏼‍♂️

  • Dynamic Avocado
    Dynamic Avocado5 dagar sedan

Your tac welds don’t have auto fill therefore leaving a crack which you cannot weld on!!!

  • Dynamic Avocado
    Dynamic Avocado5 dagar sedan

Take some time practicing your welding it’ll pay off need more penetration and a wider more consistent bead you don’t want any u deduct to your weld or it’ll be a weak point

When you weld you do a but weld. If you stitch weld it will not hold for a long time. If you do a but weld it will hold for a longer time. A but weld is where you weld the metal to the sides and when the metal gets to hot you stop and let it cook and finish your but weld
